I bought the mate xs in April, 7 weeks later the polyamide screen started to lift, in the centre, I arranged for the phone to be collected and sent back to Huawei under the warranty. I was sold on buying this mobile for its flexibility and the 2 layers of polyamide extending the screens durability. I had the phone returned the Huawei service centre removed the 2 layers of polyamide screen protection, cleaned the phone and sent it back without reinstalling the phones screen protection. I emailed Huawei about this and not a reply back, I am now starting legal action to be refunded the cost of the phone. I do believe the after sales service should be as good as the day you bought it. I have contacted BBC watchdog program and they will take it up and ask a few questions about my consumer rights.

There are some things wrong with Huawei (other than the fact they spy on you); they never give a release date nor reassure you that the screen will be scratch-free because of some secret protector technology.

my non screen protected gorilla glass 5 screen easily gets scratched from just pocketing it here and there this outside plastic screen will be riddled with scratches and any accidental brushes against hard objects (desk corners, counters, etc...) while moving about will probably easily kill the screen

I actually prefer this outside folding format to the other option, though as he mentioned, it might affect durability. Aesthetically great looking phone. No notch, no hole punch out, since Rear cameras double as selfie cameras.
